1. Membership Types
We offer the following membership options:
1.1 Rolling Monthly Membership
– Payment is taken monthly via Direct Debit.
– No sign-up or freeze fees apply.
– Cancel anytime with 30 days’ written notice.
– Includes 1 free guest pass per calendar month.
1.2 12-Month Upfront Membership
– One-off payment made in full at the start of the term.
– No freeze or sign-up fees apply.
– Can be cancelled with 30 days’ written notice.
– No refunds for cancellations made within the 12-month term. – Includes 1 free guest pass per calendar month.
1.3 Pay As You Go Monthly Membership
– Paid in full upfront at MK1 Gym reception.
– Cost: £339.50 for one calendar month from date of purchase.
– Provides access to all MK1 Gym facilities and included classes during this period.
– Any classes booked outside of this membership access period must be paid for separately.
Note: Guest passes must be used within the same calendar month and do not roll over. Guests must be aged 16 or over, complete a Health Questionnaire before entry, and must comply with the MK1 Gym Etiquette and Code of Conduct at all times. Guest visits are subject to availability.
2. General Terms
2.1 Definitions
– “We” / “Us” / “Our”: MK1 Gym Ltd
– “You” / “Your”: The individual named on the membership
– Classes: Scheduled fitness sessions at MK1 Gym (subject to change)
– Corporate Member: A member receiving a corporate discount from MK1 Gym with valid employee ID – Gym Facilities: Indoor gym, outdoor strongman area, and external studio
– Health Questionnaire: A form to be completed before using our services
2.2 Membership Conditions
– Membership begins on the date of commencement.
– Memberships are personal and non-transferable.
– Entry is via secure access; members must verify identity on entry.
– A photograph may be stored on your profile for security.
– All members must be aged 16 or over.
– A Health Questionnaire must be completed before using services.
– All members must comply with MK1 Gym’s Etiquette and Code of Conduct.
– We may update gym rules or policies with reasonable notice.
– Carers assisting disabled members may enter free of charge (non-use only) and must complete a Health Questionnaire.
– Members are responsible for keeping contact details up to date.
– MK1 Gym is not responsible for any payments made directly to personal trainers.
3. MK1 Exercise Studio Classes
3.1 Included Classes and Additional Paid Classes
– All standard exercise studio classes are included as part of your MK1 Gym membership at no extra cost. – From time to time, additional specialised classes or workshops may incur a fee; these will be clearly communicated in advance.
3.2 Non-Member Class Passes
– Non-members may attend classes by purchasing a single class pass for £5.00 per class. – Payment must be made at the time of booking.
– If MK1 Gym cancels a paid class, a refund or alternative class will be offered.
3.3 Booking & Attendance
– Classes are available for booking up to 28 days in advance for members with monthly and 12-month memberships.
– All classes must be booked in advance via our booking system or reception.
– Members and non-members should arrive on time; late arrivals may be refused entry once class has started. – Bookings are non-transferable.
3.4 Failure to Attend & Strike Policy
– If you cancel a class less than 12 hours before the start time, or fail to attend without cancelling, this will result in one strike being issued.
– Strikes will reset one calendar month after the first strike is issued.
– If a second strike occurs within the same calendar month (before reset), you will be removed from all future class bookings for the remainder of that month.
– If a third strike happens within the same calendar month (before reset), a one-month ban on class bookings will be implemented.
3.5 Cancellation Policy
– Please cancel any booked classes with at least 12 hours’ notice to avoid strikes. – No refunds or credits apply for included membership classes.
3.6 Class Changes & Cancellation by MK1 Gym
– We reserve the right to change class schedules, instructors, or formats without prior notice.
– If MK1 Gym cancels a class, affected members or non-members will be offered an alternative or credit/refund for paid classes.
– Classes will be cancelled if less than 50% full, with all cancellations communicated at least 24 hours in advance.
3.7 General Class Conduct
– All class attendees must comply with MK1 Gym’s Etiquette and Code of Conduct at all times.
4. Payments and Fees
– Direct Debits are collected on or just after the 1st or 15th of each month.
– If joining mid-month, a pro-rata fee will be charged by card on sign-up.
– Monthly payments must continue unless the membership is cancelled under these terms. – Failure to make payment may incur a £10 admin fee and result in suspended access.
– We may increase fees with a minimum of 30 days’ notice via email.
– Personal trainers operate independently and set their own pricing and terms.
5. Cancellations
5.1 By You
– Cancel anytime with 30 days’ written notice by emailing info@mk1gym.co.uk.
– For 12-month upfront memberships, no refunds will be given for early cancellation.
5.2 By Us
We may cancel your membership immediately if:
– You breach these Terms.
– You allow another person to use your membership access.
– You harass, abuse, or act inappropriately towards staff or members.
– You commit any illegal act while on MK1 Gym premises.
– You fail to provide valid corporate ID when required (corporate members).
6. Liability and Conduct
– You are responsible for ensuring you are medically fit before using our facilities.
– MK1 Gym is not liable for injuries, illness, or personal loss unless due to our negligence. – Members must respect gym equipment, staff, and fellow members at all times.
– Any complaint should be raised with staff promptly or reported to management.
7. Data Protection
– We handle your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR laws. Our full privacy policy is available at www.mk1gym.co.uk.
– We may contact your nominated emergency contact in the event of a serious incident.
8. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
